WHY THREE STRANDS?
God brought the three of us together several years ago when Gillian and her husband, Matthew, moved from Ireland to Zionsville, Indiana and joined a small midwest faith community, Zionsville Presbyterian Church. Meanwhile, Jenn and Kristin were serving with an interfaith ministry called Revive & Restore and the Zionsville Great Banquet community and had been connected for many years through Zionsville Presbyterian Church. Through our church family, the three of us have shared our hearts and lives with one another and challenged each other to go deeper into the heart of the Father’s great love for us. God was stirring each of our hearts towards something new in his service, and this is how three strands collective was born.
Through our own study of Acts, we have realized the strength in three friends working collaboratively through the study of scripture. Not necessarily in person or even at a set time. Just reading when we’re able and commenting about and discussing what we’re learning. We’ve learned from each other’s perspectives, and in digging in, chapter by chapter, we are meditating deeply on the Word and learning things that we might otherwise miss.
God’s Word says in Ecclesiastes 4:12, “A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” There is power in studying the Bible with a group of three. A group of three is able to encourage one another to keep at it, to keep doing the hard work of growth, to persevere through the hard times and the droughts, and to act from the overflow of the Holy Spirit.
Our heart for three strands collective is that God will raise up an army of believers finding their tribes of three-stranded cords that cannot be quickly broken. We believe God is preparing the Church for times of deep tribulation and testing and a deeper release of Holy Spirit power than we have ever seen, and we believe that finding and growing together in our tribes of three can help us to stay anchored and steadfast through the storm.
As we prepare,
Give us boldness, Lord. Give us strength and unity. Make us into an army of anchored three-stranded cords that are not undone when the winds and rain come, but stand instead on the Rock of your Truth.
